SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE DPAP
Category: New building
Place: Baden bei Wien, AT
Year, Status: 2022, completed
On a corner plot in Baden near Vienna, a house for a family of four is being built. The focus of the planning was the optimal exploitation of the property along with its acute angle to develop a house with spacious living areas and at the same time extensive garden areas.
The house is located on the north-facing plot boundary and opens towards the south facing the garden, so that all living spaces are flooded with light. The rectangular structure of the upper floor is slightly offset from the structure of the ground floor, so that by the projections the southern glass facade on the ground floor is shaded and the entrance area in the east is covered. The open space concept of the ground floor includes next to the spacious dining area with kitchen and a more private living room with seating oriel and fireplace, the entrance and ancillary rooms. A single-flight staircase leads to the upper floor with master bedroom area, two children’s bedrooms, an additional bathroom and work space. The large sitting windows in the rooms provide a cozy place to relax.
At the western end of the building, the ground is dug down a bit to create a lounge with living space quality in the basement through generous glazing, which can be used as a guest area with a separate entrance. In the back there is also a gym, sauna, bath and the technical room.
A west-facing terrace lies between the main building and the carport on the eastern plot boundary and looks like a small courtyard. Covered with a wooden pergola it serves as a generous outdoor living area.
